Description
Join us Friday, May 29 for a Feel Good Friday with Felix Fraga and Captain Thomas Lightsey, Brothers From Other Mothers.
In 1984, Captain Lightsey was attending a Rotary Club of Harrisburg meeting at Ripley House and was inspired by Mrs. Fraga’s Ballet Folklorico group. Capt. and Mrs. Lightsey decided they wanted to help one of the students with a scholarship and you will have to tune-in to see how Felix & Captain Lightsey remained committed to our community and involved in scholarships for underserved children.
Felix, a Ripley House legend, served two terms on the HISD school board, then was elected to Houston City Council, where he served three terms.
Captain Lightsey has just released a memoir titled “Sea to Shore.” His life at sea began with the U.S. Merchant Marines in 1942. After more than a decade at sea, Captain Lightsey came ashore to become a Ship Pilot, where he skillfully piloted ships through the narrow Houston channel for more than 36 years.
Both Felix and Captain Lightsey grew up in the East End, they both lived their lives as hard workers, loving husbands, dedicated fathers, built strong friendships and dedicated to serving those less fortunate.
